Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 15, 2025
This Privacy Policy applies to the Tapwise app (the “Application”) provided by Tapwise LLC (“Tapwise”, “we”, “us”). It explains what data we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, and your choices. The Application may be offered as a freemium service and is provided “AS IS”.
What We Collect
Depending on the features you use, we may collect and process the following categories of data:
- Device & App Info: device model, OS version, app version, language, crash logs, performance data.
- Usage Data: screens viewed, taps, session duration, feature usage, referral source, approximate IP-derived location (city/country).
- Identifiers: Apple Identifier for Vendors (IDFV) and other app-specific identifiers. We do not collect your advertising identifier (IDFA) unless you grant permission.
- Location Data (optional): precise or approximate location for navigation and map-related features. You can disable location access in your device settings.
- Contacts (optional): if you enable calling features, we may request read-only access to your device’s contacts to display names and numbers inside the app. Contact data is processed on-device and not uploaded to our servers.
- Music Services Data (optional): if you connect Apple Music or Spotify, we process authentication tokens and limited playback metadata to show and control your music within the app. Tokens are stored securely and are not shared with third parties.
- Purchase & Subscription Metadata: product identifiers, purchase date, subscription status, renewal state, and offer eligibility (processed via Apple and our purchase infrastructure provider, RevenueCat). We do not store full payment card details.
- Support Communications: messages you send to us (e.g., email), and associated metadata needed to resolve your request.
How We Use Data
- To provide core features (navigation, music controls, contacts-based calling).
- To manage purchases, subscriptions, free trials, and entitlements.
- To improve reliability, performance, and user experience via analytics and diagnostics.
- To prevent abuse, secure the Application, and comply with legal obligations.
- To respond to support requests.
In-App Purchases & RevenueCat
All payments are processed by Apple via the App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases and subscriptions, including validating receipts, tracking subscription status, and unlocking paid features. RevenueCat receives purchase metadata (e.g., product ID, transaction time, subscription state) but not your full payment card details.
Third-Party SDKs & Partners
We use trusted providers to deliver features, analytics, and notifications. These providers may process device/app info and usage data as independent controllers or processors:
Each provider’s collection and use of data is governed by its own privacy policy. Where required, we obtain your consent before enabling certain SDKs (e.g., for advertising).
YouTube API Services
Some features may use YouTube API Services. By using those features you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. We use YouTube data only to provide the requested functionality, do not use it to build profiles or for advertising, and do not store it beyond the active session. You may revoke our access at any time via your Google Security Settings.
Location Data
When enabled, location is used to show your position on the map, provide directions, and improve nearby search results. Location data is processed on-device and not stored on our servers. You can disable or limit access in your device settings; certain features may not function without it.
Contacts Access
If granted, we read your device’s contacts to display names and numbers for calling within the Application. Contact data does not leave your device and is not shared with third parties.
Music Integrations
For Apple Music or Spotify integrations, we process authentication tokens and minimal playback metadata to control music from within the Application. We do not access your passwords. Tokens are stored securely and can be revoked by disconnecting the service or via the respective provider’s account settings.
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share data only with:
- Service providers acting on our behalf (e.g., analytics, crash reporting, purchase infrastructure).
- Authorities, if required by law or to protect rights, property, or safety.
- In a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to continuity of protections consistent with this Policy.
Data Retention
- Analytics & Diagnostics: typically 24–36 months, or as configured by the respective provider.
- Purchase & Subscription Metadata: retained as necessary for entitlement management, accounting, and legal obligations.
- Support Communications: retained for as long as needed to resolve your request and maintain records.
- Location & Contacts Data: processed in-session; not stored on our servers.
Security
We apply technical and organizational measures designed to protect data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
International Transfers
We may process data on servers and with providers located in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., contractual clauses) to protect your data.
Your Rights & Choices
- Access/Deletion/Correction: you can request access to, deletion of, or correction of your personal data by contacting us at [email protected].
- Opt-Out of Analytics/Tracking: where supported, you may adjust in-app privacy settings or device settings (e.g., “Allow Apps to Request to Track”).
- Location/Contacts Permissions: manage via device settings at any time.
- Marketing: if we ever send marketing communications, you may opt out via the message or by contacting us.
- Subscriptions & Refunds: manage in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions; request refunds from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Revoke YouTube Access: via Google Security Settings.
Children
The Application is not directed to children under 13 (or the age defined by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us to remove it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will update the “Last updated” date and, where required, provide additional notice. Continued use of the Application after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
